Check back during the school year to view our upcoming projects. If you are looking for opportunities to complete your service hours requirement outside of TMI, below are a few options:
American Red Cross (San Antonio Chapter)
The San Antonio Area Chapter of the American Red Cross provides relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies in South Central Texas and beyond. Volunteer Information: http://www.saredcross.org

Good Samaritan Center
Located on San Antonio's West Side, the Good Samartican Center has a summer program for school-age kids. Volunteers in groups or as individuals are welcome daily, weekly or on customized schedules, as long as the center knows when to expect them. They may run sports, arts and crafts projects, special activities, or help with planned activities. Volunteer Information: www.goodsamaritancommunityservices.org
The Green Door Thrift Shop
The Green Door Thrift Shop, which is a 59-year-old ministry of the Women of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, is looking for student volunteers who are available during the summer. This is a great way to earn community service hours, work with a multigenerational group of volunteers, and help raise money for a variety of charitable organizations who benefit from the Green Door's profits. (This year they gave $44,000 to charity!)
The Green Door primarily consigns and sells clothing, housewares, and small furnishings. They are located at 1030 Nacogdoches (behind the Wal-greens at Basse and Broadway) and are open Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00am - 1:00pm. The student volunteers will sell items, work the cash register, organize the store, help sort, label and price items as appropriate for their age. Adult Green Door volunteers will always be present with the students at the shop, but we also welcome parents who would like to volunteer along with their children.
