"TMI helped me tap into a deeper core of my identity, my true, impassioned spirit, from which I can obtain beliefs, unrestrained joy and the ability to lead others and myself. ...I find myself at the forefront, all because of my roots, which were cultivated at TMI and now help me develop my musicianship.
-- Stephanie Lamprea '09
TMI awards merit scholarships to recognize returning students for academic excellence, extracurricular achievements, outstanding personal character, and proven leadership ability as well as other contributions to the TMI community. Merit scholarships are distinct from financial aid in that they are not need-based unless so indicated.
A scholarship review committee meets to review all submitted applications and to select the scholars. Each application is considered with the greatest of care and announcements of awards are typically made in March.
Merit scholarship applications will be available in November for the upcoming school year. Applications can be picked up in the Ayres Hall lobby, the Registrar's Office, the Office of Financial Aid or they can be downloaded online.
The merit scholarship application deadline is January 11, 2013 for the 2013-2014 school year.
Eligibility for scholarship consideration is based upon the following guidelines:
- Students must meet scholarship application requirements by the stated due date.
- Students are not to receive assistance with the essay writing requirements.
- Students are limited to one scholarship per academic year.
- Students must be in good academic and financial standing.
- Students who receive financial aid and are later awarded a scholarship may have their financial aid award adjusted.
